New Sunday School Class Offerings

New Sunday School classes will start on January 21, 2018. Classes being offered are:

  • Church History in Plain Language, led by Pete Keeley. There's an old English proverb that says "You don't know where you're going until you know where you've been." When it comes to church history there can be a lot of truth in this old adage. Understanding church history gives us a proper perspective of the course the church is chartering, and allows us to see where we as followers of Christ fit in. Having a good grasp of church history is like have a good grasp of your family heritage. If your family's heritage is rooted in America's old west you probably wouldn't want to show up at the family hoedown dressed in a powdered wig and French silk gown. Why are we Protestants and not Roman Catholic? Where do Eastern Orthodox fit in? Are they really just Protestants like us? Who determined what books should be in the Bible? What's the Reformation and is it important? These are only a few of the many questions we will explore over the next year.

  • Westminster Shorter Catechism, led by Scott Graubard. This class began three years ago aimed at exploring our doctrine. Doctrine sounds scary. It simply means that we decided to explore what the Bible says and why we confidently believe what we believe. We began with an in-depth study of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 and have since embarked on a study of the Westminster Shorter Catechism (Baptist Version). The format of the group encourages frank and open discussion. And while the topics are deep, one does not have to be a theologian to participate.

  • Understanding the Place of the Law of God in the Life of the New Covenant Believer, led by Todd Jaussen. This course will be an extension of Grace School of Ministry and previous attendance is not a prerequisite for this session. This will be an in-depth study of an important issue that has challenged the church since its beginning. How are Christians to relate to the many commands of the Old Testament such as circumcision, the dietary laws, the Sabbath celebrations, and the moral commands? What did Jesus teach His followers? How did Paul and the other apostles approach this issue? What happened when the Gentiles began entering the church? What are the implications of this for us today? How does this study impact the great moral debates of our days? There will be weekly homework assignments to prepare for our discussions.

  • Twelve Extraordinary Women, led by Stephanie Russo, Jodi Kendra, and Deb Weese. Celebrated for their courage, vision, hospitality, and spiritual giftedness, it's no wonder women were so important to God's plan revealed in the Old and New Testaments. It wasn't their natural qualities that made these women extraordinary but the power of the one true God whom they worshiped and served. Their struggles and temptations are the same trials face by all believers of all ages. These women were not ancillary to His plan - they were the very heart of it. As we discuss the remarkable ways God worked in these twelve women's lives, we will be able to look inside ourselves to see how God has shaped us as Godly women.

  • Children's Sunday School classes will continue.

Nursery will be available.

Adult Sunday School classes begin at 9:00 am while the children's class start at 8:45 am.

Announcing New Audio Host and Player (UPDATED)

We are pleased to announce that Buzzsprout has been selected to host our future audio files. Buzzsprout was originally developed to help churches get their audio content online.

Currently the Buzzsprout player will be embedded directly in the sermon or Bible Study post. The player provides some extra tools for sharing the episode via social media (Facebook or Twitter) and for downloading the audio file to your computer or device.

The player should work the same on desktop computers, tablets, and phones.

Some recent sermons and Bible Studies have been converted to the Buzzsprout player. Older files will be migrated over as monthly upload quota restrictions allow. (If there is a particular past unavailable file that you need access to, please contact us using the Website Feedback option on the Contacts page.)

We are still investigating how to include our media files as podcasts on iTunes or other podcast sites.

Update: See this announcement for breaking news about podcasting, iTunes, and Google Play.

We Have Joined the Podcast Age

Crossroads' audio recordings can now be accessed as podcasts on the two most popular hosting sites. We are listed as Crossroads Christian Fellowship Media Archive on both Google Play and iTunes. All new sermon, Bible Study, and Grace School of Ministry recordings will be included.

Google Play requires a current Google (Gmail) account for online access.

iTunes needs an Apple account and the iTunes program or app installed on your device.

Search for Crossroads on either source and then look for this logo in the results:

Grace School of Ministry Fall 2016 Course Offerings (UPDATED)

The Grace School of Ministry fall 2016 semester will begin Wednesday September 14, 2016. Two courses are being offered:

  • Todd Jaussen will be conducting a Theology and Exegesis Study of the Book of Romans. The goals of the class are to study this great book with a view to hone our skills as Biblical exegetes and theologians. And that with a view that we may be better Christians, and servants of Christ wherever He has you serving. A careful study of the assigned text will be required for each class. Then class time will be a guided discussion through the text and through the theological issues in the text. We will be learning from each other. At times we will focus on an aspect of systematic theology that the text may address. The aim is that each participant will become more skilled and knowledgeable in the areas of Biblical exegesis, systematic theology, and Biblical theology. Various tools will be introduced that will deepen your study of the Scriptures.
  • Scott Graubard will be continuing to teach on Biblical Counseling. During our first year we learned about the Biblical authority and necessity for Biblical counseling. We ended by studying Biblical applications to specific life issues such as anger, depression, and anxiety. We also practiced and developed counseling skills through case studies. The second year will focus on observing experienced counselors interacting with people in similar circumstances that our brothers and sisters might experience. Class participants will pair up and observe counseling videos outside of class. Class time will be spent evaluating the observed counseling sessions.

Class sessions will held on September 14 and 28, October 12 and 26, November 2, 16, and 30, and December 7, 2016. Times for the individual courses will be announced later.

Update: The Biblical Counseling course will begin at 6:00 pm on class nights followed by Theology and Exegesis Study of the Book of Romans at 7:20 pm.

Important Notice: Service Interruption Expected

Beginning September 1, 2016 the Google service that hosted our media files may no longer be available. At that point after that the links to audio files and any accompanying support files attached to sermon, Bible Study, and Grace School of Ministry postings for the dates listed below will probably return errors or simply not function. The actual event postings will still be active, just the links for listening or viewing notes within the post will be affected.

We are actively investigating alternative host sources and are close to making a new arrangement. The new service will likely provide more listening options and possibly expand our audience into iTunes.

Be reassured the original sources files are not being deleted; they will all eventually be moved to a new host.

When the new host is established it will take some time to generate the required codes for new upcoming sermons, Bible Studies, and Grace School of Ministry sessions. This will be the first priority. Past files will be migrated over as time and upload quota restrictions allow.

  • Sermon postings affected will be January 2015 through September 2016.
  • Bible Studies covering January 2014 through September 2016 will be unavailable.
  • All Grace School of Ministry sessions to date will be inactive.

We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption may cause. Please watch this space for any announcements concerning resumption of service.

Second Semester of Grace School of Ministry to Start (UPDATED)

The spring 2016 semester of the Grace School of Ministry is set to begin Wednesday January 13, 2016. Classes will be held on alternating Wednesdays through May 18April 20, 2016.

  • Todd Jaussen is starting a new course at 7:156:00 pm on Proclaiming God's Word. "How shall they hear without a preacher?" One of the greatest needs of our day is for biblical, passionate, clear preaching. The church, our nation, and the small towns and villages of our region are languishing from the lack of good preaching. Where must people go to hear the Word of God opened up with power and ability? Is the internet now as the only option? But internet preaching is not live preaching from a man of God whom you know and who is a role model for you in all of life. Our vision is to raise up an army of preachers who will be sent out into our area and bring the Word of God to the people who are in darkness.
  • At 6:007:20 pm Scott Graubard will be continuing the course on Biblical Counseling and will be dealing with practical case studies.

Course materials and lectures will continue to be available on this website.
