It's Time to Pack Shoe Boxes

While it's only October, it is already time to start thinking about Christmas! Operation Christmas Child presented by Samaritan's Purse provides a shoe box full of gifts to thousands of children around the world each year. Each filled box is an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with a hurting child.

Crossroads will be collecting the filled boxes on Sunday November 12, 2017.

In addition to individual or family boxes, the children's Sunday School program Life Tools is asking for donations of items so our children can experience packing the boxes. There is a list of desired items available. Also your prayer and financial support is welcomed.

Please return the filled boxes or items for the children to pack by Sunday November 16, 2014.

Fill a Shoe Box for Operation Christmas Child

The power of a simple gift. Touch the heart of a needy child this Christmas with a gift-filled shoe box and the gospel of Christ. This year Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child will surpass 100 million children being reached with God's love since 1993. The four county area of Western Pennsylvania has a goal of 40,000 shoe boxes this year. So pick up a box and instruction brochure and fill it with love. Shoebox Collection Results

On Sunday November 14, 2010, Crossroads turned in 78 shoe boxes filled with toys, books, gifts, and toiletries for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child project. Our boxes are now joined with millions of others worldwide for distribution in needy areas of the globe.

Matt Courtney reported from the Missions Committee that distribution of the boxes is only the first step in an evangelism effort to the children who receive the boxes. They also follow-up with a 12 week lesson plan that presents the gospel to the children. The committee extends thanks to all who helped make this program a success.

Shoebox Countdown Event

On Saturday September 18, 2010 at 6:00 pm, Greenville Alliance Church invites you to come and hear Operation Christmas Child’s National Spokesperson, Lejla Allison, share her amazing testimony of how a shoe box changed her life in 1993 while growing up in war-torn Bosnia.

I truly felt blessed,” Lejla said. “I knew that God had answered my prayers. I was so over-whelmed I started to cry. But these were not tears I was used to. This time they were tears of joy. This time I knew it was worthwhile to keep on living. I pray that every one of these boys and girls will know that God loves them the same way. I knew He loved me, because He gave His greatest gift, His only son.

Operation Christmas Child to Start (UPDATED)

It's time for Operation Christmas Child to begin. The shoe boxes will be available on Sunday October 18, 2009. This annual mission is a blessing to both the box-fillers and the receivers.

UPDATE: 100 shoe boxes are now available. Each box contains a pamphlet that helps you select appropriate items for the child. The filled boxes must be returned to the church by Sunday November 15, 2009 in order to get them to the next point in the distribution chain.

This program is a great opportunity to share the gospel and the joy of Christmas with those that may never otherwise hear of Jesus Christ.

UPDATE: The Missions Committee would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who participated in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. A total of 109 boxes are being sent all over the world from Crossroads and in each one will be a message of the "Love of our Savior".
