Collection Container Available for The Good Shepherd Center

A new container has been placed across from the church office for the purpose of collecting the monthly food items for The Good Shepherd Center. Our representatives, Paul and Carol Peterson, will see that the items get to the food pantry.

Cans of Fruit Needed for Good Shepherd Center

The Good Shepherd Center has asked Crossroads to contribute 145 cans of fruit for their Christmas basket program. The earlier we begin the easier it will be to make our quota. Donations can be left at the church office through Sunday December 2, 2012

Watermelons Needed for Good Shepherd Center

Our church is providing the meal at the Good Shepherd Center on Monday June 18, 2012. We are requesting watermelon to be donated for dessert. Anyone able to donate one is asked to bring it to the church kitchen on Sunday June 17, 2012. We also need 5 teams of two people each to deliver meals. Good Shepherd Center Preparing Easter Baskets.

The Good Shepherd Center has begun preparations for their Easter distribution and are asking Crossroads to supply 125 boxed or canned meals (Macaroni & Cheese, Beef-a-roni, etc). All donations should be dropped off at the church by Sunday March 26, 2012.

Fruit Needed for Good Shepherd Center Thanksgiving

The Good Shepherd Center has begun holiday preparations and is planning for 380 Thanksgiving distributions. We here at Crossroads have been asked to contribute 130 cans of fruit towards this endeavor. Please bring these to the church office by November 13, 2011.

The Good Shepherd Center will again be providing Christmas basks to area families. They have asked Crossroads to supply 130 canned or dried fruit items this year for inclusion in the baskets. Donations will be accepted through Sunday December 12, 2010. Please drop off your items at the church office so we can keep a count.

Clothing Drive (UPDATED)

A Clothing Drive will be held on Monday November 1, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Crossroads. In order for this drive to be successful, we are asking for donations of clothing. All clothing must be clean and in good condition (no rips or holes). We will accept only clothing, coats, shoes and boots. We are also asking for donations of NEW winter hats and gloves. Undergarments will NOT be accepted. If you have clothing that you would like to donate, please bring the items to the church and give them to Debbie Weese, Margie Haller, Donna Webker, Patsy Savchuk or Barbara Freeman.

UPDATE: A free bag of clothing will be available for each individual that needs help.
Also there will be an opportunity to donate items to be used by the Good Shepherd Center. Items needed include any canned goods, boxed dinners, peanut butter, toilet paper, facial tissues, and paper towels.

Watermelons Needed

On Monday June 21, 2010, Crossroads will be helping with the meal at The Good Shepherd Center, and we are in need of 8 watermelons. If you can contribute one, please notify Fran Wilkin.

Good Shepherd's Easter Baskets

The Good Shepherd Center is requesting Crossroads supply 125 canned pineapple or fruit for their Easter baskets. We currently have received 50. Please drop off donations at the church by Sunday March 21, 2010.

Holiday Plans from The Good Shepherd Center (UPDATED)

The Good Shepherd Center's holiday plans are underway, and our church has been asked to provide 125 canned yams/sweet potatoes or vegetables for their Thanksgiving baskets. Please drop your food donations off at the church office by Sunday November 15, 2009 so we can keep them separate from other donations to the Center.

Divine Delay in Concert to Benefit The Good Shepherd Center

A concert will be held on Sunday September 27, 2009 to benefit The Good Shepherd Center of Greenville. It will begin at 6:00 pm at St. Clement's Episcopal Church and will feature Divine Delay. They will bring the music for the evening and refreshments will follow. A love-offering will be taken.

Those attending are also asked to bring a non-perishable, canned protein food.

Mission Report from The Good Shepherd Center

We want to acknowledge your congregation's support throughout the year to The Good Shepherd Center. Although we do not sent out a monthly thank you, we are most grateful to you and do not ever take you for granted. Typically, most folks think about us at the holidays, and we are thankful for that, of course, but we are now feeding over 350 households monthly. Your regularly given gifts make it possible for us to continue to offer support to the growing number of individuals who need our assistance. This has been a challenging year for us due to plant closings and lay-offs, the uncertain local and national economy, and theft of our safe which contained our operating money, gift cards, titles and valuables that had to be replaced. Most recently, due to the impasse of Pennsylvania's representatives to pass a budget, many state workers are contacting us for assistance to get by until they begin receiving pay checks again. These challenges are not necessarily unique to us; most food pantries are finding it more difficult to meet needs. We are blessed as God continues to provide for this ministry through your help. Your support is a witness to many in our community that others care and are concerned for them.
