Materials Available for Adoption

The library has thinned some books and most of the audio cassette tapes and video tapes from its shelves. These items are available for adoption to a home where they will be used. The items are on a table near the library door.

Prayer Meeting Postponed

The monthly congregational prayer meeting slated for Sunday March 2, 2014 has been postponed 1 week to Sunday March 9, 2014 at 6:00 pm in place of the regularly scheduled Sunday evening Bible study.

Choir to Sponsor Spring Program

The Joyful Sound Choir is convinced spring is indeed coming and, to prove it, they are planning a Spring Concert for Saturday March 29, 2014 at 6:00 pm.

They are also looking for persons interested in presenting a special musical number, tell a story, read a poem, give a testimony, or share something special. If interesting in participating, contact Debbie Weese.

2014 Dominican Republic Mission Team Prepping

Another Crossroads mission team will be heading to the Dominican Republic March 15-22, 2014. The team consists of 20 members affiliated with Crossroads: Paul and Cindy Sereda, Martha and Suzy Johnson, Todd, Seth, Peter, Stephen, and Daniel Jaussen, Jenyl, Caleb, and Jacob Arisman, Jeff and Barb Knauff, Carly Roesh, Jamie Mausser, Corey and Rachel Cowan, Kathryn Spence, and Colin Kytchak.

Please pray for their safety. Pray that God will use them in a mighty way to further His Kingdom. Pray that the hearts of the Dominicans will be opened to receive Christ.

New Study of Hebrews Starting

The Sunday evening Bible Study led by Pastor Todd Jaussen will begin a new study of the book of Hebrews on February 9, 2014. It begins with a breathtaking look at the majesty of this book. The unknown writer of Hebrews makes a case for the superiority of Jesus Christ.

Bible Study are Sundays at 6:00 pm except for the first Sunday of each month.

In Case of Emergency...

The E-Team is developing a system for alerting members of weather cancellations and important announcements using cell phone text messages or e-mail. Households may use both message systems and have multiple message receivers. If you are interested in participating, a signed information form for each person must be submitted.

Senior Saints Exchanging Valentines

The Senior Saints are having a Valentines Luncheon on Thursday February 13, 2014 at noon. Meat and beverage will be provided; bring a dish of your favorite food to share.

2013 Annual Meeting Set (UPDATED)

The 2013 Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Monday January 27, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Agenda packets will be available Sunday January 26, 2014. A vote will be held to confirm Paul Sereda as a new Elder.

Update: Due to expected inclement and severe cold weather, the meeting has been rescheduled for Monday February 3, 2013. Also the Missions Committee meeting originally scheduled for January 27, 2014 has been moved to Monday February 3, 2014 at 6:00 pm.

Women to Connect

All women are invited to gather together on Monday January 13, 2014 for the purpose of connecting. This evening is just for getting to know each other, sharing, and fellowshipping. Jan Jaussen will be hosting the event beginning at 7:00 pm.

Children's Sunday School Planning Meeting Scheduled

There will be a meeting concerning the children's Sunday School program at 7:00 pm on Sunday December 1, 2013. This meeting is for teachers, anyone interested in teaching, and parents. Continue to pray that God will give us wisdom and direction regarding this important program.

Rescue Mission Supplies Needed

In lieu of desserts for the December Rescue Mission trip on Wednesday December 4, 2013 donations of supplies are needed:

• peanut butter and jelly
• canned tuna
• cereal
• syrup
• over-the-counter medicines (non-drowsy cough, allergy, and cold)
• antacids
• ibuprofen
• aspirin
• men's and women's deodorants
• men's, women's, and children's new underwear and socks

These items can be dropped off at the church office by Tuesday afternoon December 3, 2012.

The trip to the Rescue Mission leaves at 4:00 pm. This is a monthly mission trip to the Rescue Mission in Youngstown, OH to help serve a meal to those in need.

Senior Saints to have Christmas Luncheon

The Senior Saints ministry will have a pot-luck luncheon for their monthly gathering on Thursday December 12, 2013 at 12 noon. Meat and beverage will be provided. Attendees should bring a $1 gag gift (or just wrap up any small unwanted item lying around the house) for a fun gift exchange. Please sign up if you are planning on attending.

Bethlehem Morning to be Presented by Choir

The Joyful Sound Choir will present their Christmas program Bethlehem Morning on Sunday December 22, 2013 at 6:00 pm. Come and hear the music to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.

Senior Saints to Tour New Wendell August Forge

A tour of the new Wendell August Forge facility has been planned by the Senior Saints for Thursday November 14, 2013. We will leave from the church at 10:45 am. The tour begins at 12 noon. We will stop for lunch following the tour. Please sign up if you plan to participate.

Dave Campbell Heading to Papua New Guinea

Dave Campbell will be leaving October 26, 2013 for Wewak, Papua New Guinea as part of a team of 9 from I-TEC. They will begin installing a new generator and underground wiring at the New Tribes Sepic Headquarters over 3 weeks. Dave will attempt -- as time and internet availability allows -- to report on the trip and progress. Any personal reports from Dave will be posted on Crossroads Reports site. Also the team's postings can be followed at I-TEC's trip site.

Underground Church Event for Youth (UPDATED)

In many areas and cultures around the world Christians must meet in secret in order to worship God. Christian churches are illegal and heavily persecuted. Greenville area youth will get a taste of this experience during the Underground Church hosted by First Presbyterian. The event will be October 27, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Youth to Discover God's Design for Relationships (UPDATED)

We are hosting a seminar for our youth that will deal with God’s design for relationships and sexual purity. It will take place on Sundays October 13 and 23, 2013 from 6:00-7:30 pm at the church. Beth Gordon will be the speaker, and she will lead the youth through media presentations, skits and discussions, helping them to discover God’s best for them. Parents will be receiving information in the mail. Any questions can be directed to Barb Knauff.

Update: The seminar on Sunday October 13, 2013 will be at Crossroads from 6:00-7:30 pm. The Sunday October 20, 2013 session will take place at Central Community Church from 5:00-7:00 pm.

New Sunday Evening Bible Study to Begin

When was the last time your read any of the Minor Prophets for your devotions? Ever? Can you even find them in the Bible?!? Guys like: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, etc. Why did God even put them in the Bible? Well He put them in the Bible for a good reason or else they would not be there. And He put them there for us to read and learn from. But perhaps you have found them hard to understand.

On Sunday October 13, 2013 we will begin a study of Hosea. Our goal is to help you understand this important prophet. But another goal is to help you have the tools to understand the other Minor Prophets as well and to benefit and enjoy this rich treasure of literature in our Bible.

Sunday evening Bible study is led by Pastor Todd Jaussen from 6:00-7:00 pm weekly except for the first Sunday of each month.

Raising Funds for Dental Drill in Dominican Republic (UPDATED)

One of the needs we have found in the Dominican Republic during our work in the villages is the need for dental care. A dentist we work with donates her time to offer free care, but the DR government no longer provides portable drills. We are seeking to raise the money to purchase such a drill. We are currently $500 short of our goal of $1500. If this is something you would like to donate to, please place your gift in a pew or tithing envelope, mark it DR Drill, and place it in the offering plate.

Update: Thanks to the generosity of our church family, we now have the full $1500 to fund the portable dentist drill for the Dominican Republic. Thank you for responding to this need!

Sign up for Salvation Army Bellringing

Christmas is coming and we are scheduled to man the Salvation Army Christmas kettle on December 7, 2013 at the Greenville WalMart. Time slots are available for 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Two or more volunteers are needed for each one hour time slot.

Christmas kettle proceeds helps provide services throughout the entire year to families and individuals who are experiencing financial difficulties. The Christmas kettle effort is the Salvation Army's largest fundraising endeavor, accounting for a third of their annual budget.

Shoe Boxes Available for Operation Christmas Child

Empty shoe box kits are now available for Operation Christmas Child presented by Samaritan's Purse. A simple box filled with a few toys, gifts, and treats and packed with love can change a child's life.

Filled boxes are due back on Sunday November 17, 2013.

Senior Saints to Visit Jefferson Depot Village

The Senior Saints ministry will be touring Jefferson Depot Village, a 19th century village with homes, church, and railroad station, on Thursday September 12, 2013. Villagers will be dressed in period clothing. The group will be leaving Crossroads at 9:00 am. The tour begins at 10:00 am.

Fall Sunday School Classes Set

The Fall 2013 Sunday School class schedule is set to begin September 15, 2013. The adult classes available will be:

• Church History in Plain Language by Bruce Shelley will be resuming. Pete Keeley will be leading.


• Todd Jaussen and Lee Earnhardt will lead a study of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know by Meg Meeker.


• A ladies class taught by Evie Haller will be based on the book For Women Only: What You Need to Know about the Inner Lives of Men by Shaunti Feldhahn.

Next Dominican Republic Mission Trip Planned

Ladies' Bible Study Set to Resume

The Ladies' Bible Study will resume weekly on Mondays at 10:00 am. First session is September 9, 2013 with Joyce Keeley leading a study of The Truth Project. All women are welcome to attend.

Beka Jaussen has boldly begun a new phase of her life. She has arrived in Hato Mayor of the Dominican Republic to help establish a Christian coffee shop and bookstore as a representative of the Whitefields Foundation. She will be blogging about her activities so check out her posts.

Women's Fellowship Weekend Announced

Since their men will be out roughing it for the weekend, the women are invited to fellowship at the home of Michelle Earnhardt on August 16-19, 2013. Come for just an hour or the whole weekend. Lots of activities planned. On Saturday afternoon Joyce Keely will be sharing her secret bread making recipe to be followed by a meal of lasagna and, of course, fresh homemade bread. Youth to Attend Pirates Game

The LEAST youth group is planning on attending a Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday August 4, 2013. Game start time is 1:35 pm at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA. Everyone is invited to participate.

Free Clothing to be Distributed (UPDATED)

Another clothing giveaway will be held on Friday August 2, 2013 and Saturday August 3, 2013 at Crossroads. Times are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday. Any donated clothing can be dropped off at the church on Thursday August 1, 2013 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Please only give wearable clothing with no holes or tears. Undergarments must be new and still in the original package. See Debbie Weese for drop-off arrangements or if you are willing to help.

Update: The clothing giveaway will be held on Friday August 2, 2013 only due to an unforeseen event at the church.

Men's Camping Retreat Set (UPDATED)

The 2013 Men's Camping Retreat weekend has been set for Friday-Sunday August 23-25, 2013. It will take place on the same farm setting as last year near Kennerdale, PA in Venango County with access to biking trails, hiking, and canoeing and kayaking on the Allegheny River. Other activities may include skeet shooting and archery. All men and young men are encouraged to attend. Come for the entire weekend or just whenever. Meals will be provided on Saturday. Breakfast will be served and a worship service held on Sunday morning. See Frank Weese for more information.

Senior Saints to Take in Scrappers Game

The Senior Saints ministry is planning an outing to a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game versus the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday July 26, 2013. The game is a 7:05 pm start at Eastwood Field in Niles, OH with a special 90's theme fireworks display after the game. Planning to leave the church at 5:30 pm. See Ron Courtney for more information.

Church Camping Weekend Planned

A camping weekend is being planned for August 9-10, 2013 to be held on the church grounds. More details will be coming later. Please sign up if you are interested and indicate whether you will be using a camper or a tent.

A Tiny Bit-o'-Talent on Display for VBS

The 2013 VBS theme will be 'A Tiny Bit-o'-Talent' based on "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord" (Colossians 3:23). All children from age 3 to those just completing 6th grade are welcome. VBS will run July 15-19, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Crossroads.

The daily lessons will be:

• Monday: Miriam uses her special talent to worship. (Exodus 15:1-21)
• Tuesday: Besalel uses his special talent to create. (Exodus 36:1-2)
• Wednesday: Ruth uses her special talent to be a friend. (Ruth 1:1-22)
• Thursday: Isaiah uses his special talent to tell others. (Isaiah 6:1-8)
• Friday: Tabitha uses her special talent to serve. (Acts 9:36-43)

Former Penn State Football Great to Speak

Leo Wisniewski, who played nose tackle at Penn State in the early 1980s, will present the message on Sunday June 16, 2013, representing the White Fields Foundation. Since retiring from the NFL, Leo has been involved in full-time Christian work, particularly to inner-city men, and has participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic.

Summer Adult Sunday School Study Announced

Beginning Sunday June 2, 2013 all adult Sunday School classes will meet together to study the classic book Of the Mortification of Sin in Believers by John Owen. Collection Container Available for The Good Shepherd Center

A new container has been placed across from the church office for the purpose of collecting the monthly food items for The Good Shepherd Center. Our representatives, Paul and Carol Peterson, will see that the items get to the food pantry.

Baptismal Service and Membership Ingathering Planned

We are planning to hold a Baptismal Service on Sunday June 23, 2013 and a Membership Ingathering on Sunday June 30, 2013. Anyone wanting to be baptized and/or to join the church should sign up so one of the Elders can contact you.

Seeking Funds for Summer Camp Scholarships

Would you like to help a young person have the special experience of attending a Christian summer camp? Camp can be such a highlight of the summer and a great opportunity to grow in one's relationship with Christ. It is very challenging to be a young person today. So much that is negative and hurtful is constantly coming at them. Your gift will help fight against this pressure. Also it is very expensive raising children today, and your gift will help parents who are struggling.

Greenville National Day of Prayer Event

The National Day of Prayer local event, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Greenville, will be held on Thursday May 2, 2013 at Central Park. Music begins at 11:30 am with prayers to follow at 12 noon. All are welcome. Lunch will be served at Fresh Grounds at 12:30 pm with donations accepted to cover the cost of lunch.

Women's Spring Banquet Scheduled (UPDATED)

A special Congregational Meeting will be held Monday May 6, 2013 at 7:00 pm to discuss and vote on major repairs to the parking lot. All members are encouraged to attend and vote.

Choir to Present Spring Concert

Youth Hosting Fun N' Fellowship Time

Starting May 5, 2013 the youth will be hosting a weekly time of fun and fellowship for an hour prior to the LEAST meeting and Sunday evening Bible study. This will be a time of activities and games for everyone -- youth, adults, and families -- to come participate together. The goal is to increase interaction with one another, over the generations, in a healthy and fun way! The fun begins at 5:00 pm.

LEAST youth are sponsoring a teen seminar on Sunday April 21, 2013 at Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse to discuss Biblical relationships and the purpose of dating. There will be dinner, discussions, and activities.

Preparing for Creation 2013

Anyone entering 7th grade next school year or older are welcome to join the youth for Creation Festival 2013. This is a internationally recognized Christian event that features music, teaching, and fellowship at Agape Farm in Shirleysburg, PA. Dates are June 26-30, 2013.

Deadline for ordering tickets is May 12, 2013. Cost is $92 if ordered prior to April 11, 2013 and $102 after.

Easter Service Times

The schedule for Easter Sunday March 31, 2013 will start with a Sunrise Service presented by the youth at 7:00 am. Breakfast for all will follow at 8:00 am. Easter Worship Service will begin at 9:15 am.

There will be no Sunday School, Evening Bible Study, or youth LEAST meeting on Easter Sunday.

Choir to Present Good Friday Service

The Joyful Sound Choir will be presenting It Is Finished for the Good Friday Service on March 29, 2013 at 7:00 pm. The Lord's Table will also be observed.

Getting Ready for 2013 His Work, His Way

Greenville's His Work, His Way will take place during the week of June 16-22, 2013. His Work, His Way is a nonprofit Christian community development organization whose purpose includes upholding the dignity of vulnerable and needy homeowners who live in Greenville and the neighboring communities. It sends out crews of teenage and adult volunteers who will give freely of their time and energy to perform free home repairs for homeowners.

Prayer cards, home owner applications, and participant applications are available at the church, at Fresh Grounds, and online at www.hisworkhisway.org. The forms can also be submitted online.

Lining up homeowner projects to be done is the present focus. Applications are due by April 30, 2013.

Deadline for participant applications is May 19, 2013.

Relationship Testimonies Needed

The youth are hosing a relationship seminar for teens on April 21, 2013 and is seeking couples or singles willing to share a brief testimony of their relationship, marriage, or singleness. This can be about a particular struggle that you endured, a funny story about your marriage, how you met, what dating looked like for you, or something else funny or helpful to teens as they enter into relationships. The testimonies will be video recorded for presentation during the event.

Crossroads Team Going to Dominican Republic

A team of 25 individuals associated with Crossroads is traveling to Hata Mayor in the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. They are departing March 1, 2013 and most are returning March 8, 2013. A few are remaining on the Caribbean island until March 15, 2013.

The team with be doing construction projects, VBS sessions, medical services, entrepreneurial training, teaching pastors and counseling their wives. Please pray for their mission and for God's Will to be done.

As time allows and if internet service is available, some team members may be reporting back on their efforts and adventures. The reports will be posted on the Pastor's Blog page as they become available daily.

Info Session for Dominican Republic Mission Trip (UPDATED)

Information concerning travel, times, what to bring and not to bring, and ministries opportunities will be distributed. This will be a time to present and answer all your questions.

Young Women's Bible Study has Started

A Bible study for young women in grades 7-12 has begun. It is meeting weekly at the church on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm. The study will focus on different women of the Bible in order to glean wisdom from their choices and apply that to modern decisions.

Special Christmas Outreach to Well Drillers

The outreach to the local shale oil well drillers has been well received and appreciated. For Christmas we intend to offer fresh fruit and cookies to the workers who will be thousands of miles away from their families for the holidays. Any donations should be brought to the church kitchen by Sunday December 16, 2012.

We are still experiencing technical recording issues relating to the loss of all our previous sound system equipment from burglary in early October 2012 and the subsequent acquiring and integrating of replacement equipment. Women's Christmas Party Scheduled (Updated)

A Christmas Tea has been planned for the women of the church on Tuesday December 11, 2012 at 6:30 pm. In lieu of a gift exchange they will be collecting diapers for distribution to Health Outreach Ministry for young moms at Fresh Grounds.

Women's Retreat in the Works

A women's retreat is being planned for the weekend of January 25-27, 2013 at Joseph Badger Meadows in Burghill, OH. This will be a time to relax, rejuvenate, and fellowship together. More details will be coming.

Operation Christmas Child Results

Thank you for your participation in Operation Christmas Child! Through your efforts, Crossroads is sending out 112 shoe box gifts this year, sharing the message of the Love of our Savior with needy and hurting children throughout the world. A simple, but precious, gift.

Another Basketball Challenge has been Issued

The Crossroads youth seem to have forgotten the beat down they received last year at the hands of the adults during the basketball game and have issued another challenge. The next game is scheduled for Sunday January 20, 2013 so practice a few layups and 3-pointers. Players, cheerleaders, and fans are needed. Sign up if you are interested.

A new slideshow viewer for photo galleries has been launched and several new albums have been added on the Photos page.

Clicking on a album thumbnail image will activate the new larger viewer in a separate window and automatically start the slideshow. Hovering over the viewer area will display a toolbar with tools to pause, play, or rewind the show. Photos can also be manually advanced. Clicking on the slideshow again will take you to the Picasa photo gallery host in another separate window.

Albums for the 2012 Men's Camping Retreat and the 2012 Youth Canoe trip were recently added. Also new are Missionary Visits, 2012 Easter Sunrise Service, 2012 VBS, Joyful Sound Choir, Praise Team, 2012 Men's Nite, 2011 Congregational Picnic, Baptisms, Special Programs, and more general Candid (2) shots. Attention: Parents Who Need a Night Out

Do you need a night out to Christmas shop, have a date, or just relax? The LEAST youth group will be offering a free Parents' Night Out 5:00-8:00 pm on Saturday December 8, 2012 for all kids under the age of 12. Dinner will be provided and activities are planned. Junior Choir Forming

Joyce Keeley and Rita Reeher are forming a choir for kids and youth. If you are interested meet after the Worship Service at the front of the sanctuary on Sunday November 11, 2012.

Shale Drillers Outreach

A small city of shale drillers from all over the country has moved in nearby. These workers are miles away from family, friends, and church. We are planning an outreach to them. Please sign up if you can provide cookies or help in another way.

Three New Sunday Classes Begin November 2012

New adult Sunday School classes will be starting on November 4, 2012. The entire lineup for all ages will be:

• Preschool - Kindergarten taught by Lorreta Ball.


• 1st - 2nd Grades taught by Joyce Keeley.


• 3rd - 6th Grades taught be Rita Reeher.


• 7th - 12th Grades taught by Jeanne Ball.


• The Gospel is for Christians taught by Paul Sereda. The class will look at the book by Mitchell L. Chase. Books will be provided. An e-book version is available.


• Spiritual-Mindedness will be instructed by Bill Haller. The book by John Owen will be provided.


• The Beauty of Jesus will be led by Bill Haller and study the book by Clifford Pond. Books will be provided.

Interested in a Mission Trip? (UPDATED)

You can make a difference. Crossroads is teaming with the White Fields Foundation to sponsor a short-term mission trip to Hato Mayor in the Dominican Republic on March 2-9, 2013. The goal will be to teach and preach the gospel to the Dominican peoples through training and serving their needs. Cost will be about $1,000 which includes airfare, meals, room, and board. A current passport is required. No shots are needed! It is very important that anyone interested in going sign up by Sunday October 21, 2012 in order to get an accurate head-count for the very competitive ticket buying process. Update: The team will be joined by a large group of medical students from Penn State Hershey led by Liz Atnip along with Pastors Todd Jaussen of Crossroads and Lon Snyder from Riverwood Chapel of Kent, Ohio. Kim Costanza and Justin Crocker will lead an effort to train Domincans in pastoral leadership. An entrepreneurial team be led by Becca Jaussen.

The deadline for the $500 deposit is December 1, 2012.

It's Fall: Time for a Hayride! (CANCELED)

The Knauff family is hosting a hayride and picnic at their home on Saturday October 20, 2012 beginning at 4:00 pm. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages will be provided. Please bring a picnic food to share. We will be making s'mores by the fire after the hayride. Everyone is invited.

Fill a Shoe Box for Operation Christmas Child

The power of a simple gift. Touch the heart of a needy child this Christmas with a gift-filled shoe box and the gospel of Christ. This year Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child will surpass 100 million children being reached with God's love since 1993. The four county area of Western Pennsylvania has a goal of 40,000 shoe boxes this year. So pick up a box and instruction brochure and fill it with love. Filled boxes are due back on Sunday November 11, 2012.

Two new albums from 2012 have been added to our photo gallery: the youth's canoe trip and the men's camping retreat.

Youth to get Lost (Maybe) in Corn Maze

The LEAST youth group will be attempting to enter and possibly navigate through a corn maze on Sunday October 21, 2012. Meet at 4:00 pm in the parking lot behind Fresh Grounds and bring a flashlight and jacket. Cost is $7.50 per person.

Cans of Fruit Needed for Good Shepherd Center

The Good Shepherd Center has asked Crossroads to contribute 145 cans of fruit for their Christmas basket program. The earlier we begin the easier it will be to make our quota. Donations can be left at the church office through Sunday December 2, 2012

Attention Bell Ringers

It's already time to think about the Salvation Army Kettle Drive. They are getting ready for their annual drive to help raise funds for those in need during the holidays and throughout the year. 100% of the money collected stays in the Greenville area.

We will be manning the kettle at the Food entrance of the Greenville WalMart on Saturday December 1, 2012 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Two or more volunteers are required for each one hour time slot.

Holiday Dinner Scheduled

To help ease the stress and busyness that the holiday season can be, this year there will be a combined Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner on Saturday November 17, 2012 at 5:00 pm. There will be a variety of culinary favorites. Please sign up if you plan on attending. A short musical program will follow the dinner.

Let's Get to Know Each Other

A fellowship Greet and Meet is happening on Sunday October 21, 2012 from 8:00 to 9:00 am before Worship Service. Coffee and pastries will be provided. Come mingle and get to know each other.

Senior Saints to View Tiffany Stained Glass Windows

The Senior Saints Ministry will be traveling to St. John's Episcopal Church in Franklin, PA on Wednesday October 17, 2012 for a tour of the Tiffany-designed stained glass windows. Cost is $5 per person. Following the tour, lunch will be at the Bonanza Restaurant. Sign up if you are interested and the group will leave from Crossroads at 9:30 am.

Quarterly Congregational Meeting Scheduled

The next quarterly congregational meeting will be held on Monday October 29, 2012 at 7:00 pm. We will be voting to confirm one Elder, elect three Deacons, on building superintendent, and the church treasurer. Also approving the 2012 church budget will be on the ballot.

Men's Camping Retreat in the Works (UPDATED)

Finishing touches are being put on a Men's Camping Retreat to take place Friday September 28 through Sunday September 30, 2012. All men and young men are encouraged to attend. Manly activities like biking, hiking, canoeing, and archery are planned along with topical discussions. This primitive campout will be near the Allegheny River in Venango County with access to the bike trail. More details will be coming soon. See Frank Weese for more information.

Update: Come for the entire weekend or just whenever. All meals will be provided on Saturday. Breakfast will be served and a worship service held on Sunday morning. Seniors Ministry to have Cookout Picnic (RESCHEDULED)

The September gathering of the Senior Saints will feature a cookout and picnic on Thursday September 13, 2012 at noon. Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill will be provided. Please bring other picnic items and an appetite.

We're Looking for Amateur Photo-Buffs!

If you often attend events sponsored by Crossroads and you enjoy digital photography then you are in our viewfinder. We want to record more events, activities, outreaches, and mission trips through pictures and video. The photos may be used on the website gallery or simply retained as an archival record. If you are interested then see Phil Tingley on how to submit your images. Expensive equipment not required; just your willingness to help.

Also, if you already have photos of past events then we would like to have them, too.

The New Pictorial Directory is Looking for You

There are many new faces at Crossroads and a great way to get to know each other is through a pictorial directory. We want to have you in our church family album. This will all be done by our members, not by an outside company.

We will be accepting portraits three ways:

1. Our photographer, Matt Courtney, will be taking portraits after Sunday Worship through October 21, 2012.
2. Evening and Saturday appointments are available at the church for a more formal setting. These are scheduled for October 3, 9, and 17, 2012 at 6-8 pm and October 13 and 20, 2012 at 10 am - 4 pm. Expect a sitting to last approximately 30-45 minutes
3. You may submit a suitable digital portrait you already have.

Each family will receive a paper and/or a digital finished directory along with all of your group's photos on a CD.

Also volunteers are needed to help schedule appointments, collect information, and assist during the appointments. See Amy Tingley to see how you can help.

Choir Season to Resume

Joyful Sound Choir will begin practicing on Thursday September 6, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Note the new time. All voices and ages are welcome. See Debbie Weese if you would like to participate but the above schedule is difficult for you.

Senior Ministry Heading to Ballgame (UPDATED)

Instead of a monthly luncheon in August, the Senior Saints ministry will be heading to a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game on Friday August 17, 2012. Game time is 7:05 pm. Next Bible Study to Cover 1 Corinthians

Our church is under the call of Christ to make disciples. One of the most important ways that is done is to teach His people His word. To that end we will begin a new Bible study on Sunday August 12, 2012 at 6:00 pm. We will study the book of 1 Corinthians. This letter is filled with doctrinal and practical truths which every maturing Christian should know, understand and implement into his or her life. We will have the privilege to listen as the Apostle Paul guides and directs the Corinthian church through many issues. One will grow immensely in the wisdom of Christ as this letter is studied. Let us pray that we as a congregation will grow in grace, love, holiness and maturity through this study.

New Truth Project Session to Begin (POSTPONED)

Do you really believe that what you believe is really real? How should that impact the way you view every area of the world in which you live? Beginning Tuesday September 4, 2012 Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse will be hosting another session of the Truth Project from 7—9 p.m. This 13 week small group series is described as an in-depth worldview experience. Experiencing Problems with Sermon Audio Files (UPDATED)

Our host -- Blogger -- for the sermon and Bible study posting archive seems to have made an unknown change that prevents our streaming audio script to work. Clicking on the file link launches the player window, but the file player will not load or begin playing. We are aware there is a problem and are looking into a solution.

As a workaround, the audio files can still be downloaded to your computer or device and then listened to using a standard mp3 media player. To start the download process, right-click on the sermon file link and then choose the option that includes Save As on the pop-up menu. Depending on your browser settings you may be asked to select a location for the file or it may be automatically placed in your default downloads folder.

Update: This issue has been successfully corrected! Google unexpectedly and without notification recently stopped supporting an audio player that was embedded into the site. Another audio player has been substituted.

Note that most browsers cache or store support files from previous visits to a website and a hard refresh may be needed to clear the cache and direct the link to the corrected tool. For most browsers a hard refresh is performed by holding down the CTRL button while hitting the F5 key at the top of the keyboard. Here is more information on clearing a browser's cache found on Wikipedia.

Special Congregation Vote (CANCELED)

There will be a special congregational meeting at 7:00 pm on Sunday August 5, 2012 to discuss and vote on repairs to the church parking lot and driveway.

VBS Kids Raise Money for Operation Kid-to-Kid

During this year's Babylon VBS, the kids collected money to send to Operation Kid-to-Kid, a service outreach program. The kids learned about the dangers of malaria and how it is often carried by mosquitoes to people, especially in Africa. For every $6 raised, mosquito nets can be purchases for two children to share in Mali to help protect them from mosquito bites while they sleep. In addition to the money the kids raised, during VBS, all $1 bills and coins in the Sunday July 22, 2012 offering will go toward this mission outreach.

Youth Looking for Canoes and Kayaks

Do you have a canoe or a kayak? LEAST is taking a canoe trip on Sunday August 19, 2012 and is need of some canoes and kayaks along with your company. See Annie Ball for more details.

2012 Free Clothing Giveaway Announced

A clothing giveaway will be held on Friday August 3, 2012 and Saturday August 4, 2012 at Crossroads. Times are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday. Any donated clothing can be dropped off at the church on Thursday August 2, 2012 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is a need for adult, youth, baby, and toddler clothing. See Debbie Weese for drop-off arrangements or if you are willing to help.

His Work His Way is a nonprofit Christian community development ministry that provides support for community members who are in need of home repairs and are unable to meet those needs without assistance. It is held annually in June.

Cookies Needed for Rescue Mission

The next Rescue Mission Trip is Wednesday June 6, 2012. We leave from the church at 4:15 pm to travel to the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission where we will help serve the evening meal to those in need. Please sign up if you want to participate. Also, as we would like to take cookies for their dessert, anyone willing to donate a dozen or more cookies, please bring them to the church by Tuesday afternoon June 5, 2012.

Watermelons Needed for Good Shepherd Center

Our church is providing the meal at the Good Shepherd Center on Monday June 18, 2012. We are requesting watermelon to be donated for dessert. Anyone able to donate one is asked to bring it to the church kitchen on Sunday June 17, 2012. We also need 5 teams of two people each to deliver meals. Senior Outing to Deer Park

A Senior Saints outing will take place at the Pymatuning Deer Park in Jamestown on Thursday June 14, 2012. Meet at the park in the food wagon area at 11:30 am for lunch with a walk through the park to follow. The group rate of $5 per person plus lunch and other purchases is at your own expense.
